DESCRIPTION: Concrete tile is used primarily in new construction because the foundation, walls and trusses must be braced to carry the additional weight. Concrete tile has a very distinctive look most suitable to southwestern and southern architecture.

ADVANTAGES:

• non-combustible
• large selection of colors and styles
• perceived as a premium product
• good visual appearance when installed

DISADVANTAGES:

• expensive
• heavy
• not good in earthquake prone areas
• cannot be used in freeze/thaw areas - suitable only for southern climates
• generally not used in re-roofing due to weight and structural inadequacies repairs difficult
• susceptible to hail damage
