Rock Gardens

by Lisa VandenDool

With today's fast-paced life, few of us have the time to spend fussing in our yards. The fact that rock gardens require a relatively minimal amount of maintenance  combined with their obvious beauty makes them an ideal solution for busy households.  The large assortment of plants that can be accommodated in a limited area (since most used are generally small) is another appealing aspect of the rock garden.

COMPLIMENT YOUR SURROUNDINGS

Your rock garden can be developed around existing rock sites or through importation of rocks.  Utilizing existing elements can help you maintain a pristine quality on your property.  On banks and steep slopes, rock gardens present fewer problems than flower beds present.  Depending on the extent and character of your property, you may choose to go with a wide or limited site. A pool, stream or waterfall can also add to the charm of your rock garden.
